RIP John Dunsworth. You were the liquor.

Found the guy without kids. Each switch is hell for 3-7 days, regardless of age. I like to know it’s coming way ahead of time so I can start adjusting their schedules to limit the damage.
It’s the eternal IT conundrum. Something goes wrong: “What are we paying you for?!” Everything goes right: “What are we paying you for?!”
It’s best to ignore the users as much as possible and just keep working.
What not eating pussy does to a MFer
Go through your shit when you’re not operating a two-ton death machine, thanks.
I was never officially diagnosed, but I had something that looked a lot like COVID in late February 2020. Glad I got that out of the way before lockdown started.
If you just accept that the book was impossible to make into a TV show it’s actually pretty great. Lee Pace is astounding, the story is great, and Bear McCreary did a lot of the music. You may know Bear’s beats from Battlestar Galactica.
Humans starved to death frequently before the invention of the car simply because they couldn’t carry enough food. So tragic.
Having been on the Internet since the early 90s, it’s super fun watching the fediverse culture grow and change. Watermarks seem like a good idea to increase engagement and add community attribution, but they are a bit old fashioned and try-hard. It will be fun to see how this concept evolves, where individual communities come down on the issue, and the memes that are spawned from all that.
I honestly haven’t had this much fun online since AOL charged by the hour.
Love the use of classy fonts here. Makes it feel gourmet.
This isn’t any less insane than burning coal until the Northwest Passage opens.

Stroganoff.
And a red Swingline stapler
Fuckin’ A
The reason Y2K wasn’t a big deal was through the efforts of software developers and the only recognition they got was the movie Office Space.
I want to be more alone too, so I’d probably not get to the point where I was close enough to have them tell me to go away.
However, most people probably wouldn’t like the actual wilderness. They want a big country house somewhere and when they find out they need to build it themselves they’ll go back to the apartment blocks.
One reason I’m a fan of making cities less objectively terrible is that more people will live in them and be even further away from my hovel.
Which is why I’m an anarchist. Pretty much every other system would force me to attempt to be happy in an apartment block, or waste huge amounts of resources creating suburbs that are still too goddamn crowded for me
I’d gladly walk my ass out to the wilderness rather than live in an apartment block, but at least then there’d be an extra spot.
When companies do good, that’s a good economy. Companies do good when they make a lot of profit. Companies make a lot of profit by paying their workers way less than what they make selling the thing they make.
So when workers are ripped off more, the economy does better.
Fuck the economy.
