  • I find this only happens with certain people who talk too much and just overload me with details. Just hit me with the major summaries of whatever you’re trying to say, if I care enough, I’ll dig deeper and ask for details. Otherwise, I just find myself fading in and out with people who give me too much backstory and detail before they ever get to the point.

  • I feel like it was probably the fans that pushed the designs in the more realistic direction. You’ve got hyper-vigilant fans looking over every fucking frame in a show/movie, taking measurements, making calculations, writing to the network/studio, asking obscure questions at conventions, and not to mention many may be somewhat well-educated, it’s just gradually pushed modern designs in that direction. When I see all the little details in a show like The Expanse, it feels real and I appreciate the attention to detail.

When something seemingly awkward happens on-screen, like a spaceship doesn’t stop on a time, or their boots are magnetic because antigravity isn’t a thing, or whatever, and then you have to think about it for a moment, like, “Oh, that’s because of XYZ, now that makes sense!” I like those little moments.

And not only is the first part necessarily the worst, but once you’re in the system they make it hard to get back out by throwing all sorts of arbitrary requirements on you to fulfill, with little to no flexibility. 10-week class that occurs right in the middle of your work-day? Fuck you. It all serves to essentially keep you in the system as it keeps on fucking with your life. Not to mention prison/jail, which brands you with a permanent scarlet letter that bars you from even working at many jobs even after you’ve gotten out.

I spread my vacations out across the year, just taking one day off a week. It works out to almost 1/3rd of my year is just 4-day weeks and it’s so fucking nice. Going on weekend/week long vacations is so stressful bc you feel like you Have to enjoy yourself. Plus, it fucking sucks taking a week off and then having to go back to work, it’s so depressing being back in after all that time.

The extra day off I get each week lets me just take care of whatever issues come up during the week during business hours, so I’m not scrambling to do stuff on the weekends, or after I get off, or during work/breaks. Or, if nothing is pressing, I can just do whatever the fuck I want. I work 2 days, have a mid-weekend, then two days on, then regular weekend. It should just be the standard, why the fuck do we have to kill ourselves?
