Does your instance federate with Hexbear and Lemmygrad? Because I constantly have those people in my feed and it’s absolutely exhausting. I see more memes about burning the rich and starting a revolution than normal memes in my feed. I’m left-wing, but I’m not looking at memes to constantly be confronted with politics. Unfortunately instance blocking isn’t working well for me yet

As someone who very rarely watches series, this really hits home. I just rarely have the patience to do so, and because of that I also don’t have any streaming subscriptions. I’d rather play games, because the interaction makes them a lot more rewarding to me. To each their own though, other people don’t play games so they’ll have the same problem with me

Time might not totally be money, but they’re definitely in a balance. I’m currently working 40 hours a week, but considering working less. That’d also lower my wage though, obviously. Beyond that I also notice that I tend to be much more likely to spend more money to safe time (i.e. paying the bicycle shop to fix my bike tire instead of fixing it myself). More and more I’m noticing that up to some limit time is money and money is time. And so I’m going to have to put a value on my (free) time.

I had 10-ish beers yesterday and I can tell you now: no amount of anything would have granted me the ability to run at this point in time. I actually did consider it yesterday, but that was a completely unrealistic idea. More water earlier on the evening would’ve helped tho.

My problem when buying my last GPU is that AMD’s answer to CUDA, ROCm, was just miles behind and not really supported on their consumer GPUs. From what I se now that has changed for the better, but it’s still hard to trust when CUDA is so dominant and mature. I don’t want to reward NVIDIA, but I want to use my GPU for some deep learning projects too and don’t really have a choice at the moment.

I just jumped to another instance. Feels good now that stuff loads again. This sucks right now, but it’s probably good for Lemmy in the long run. Load should be spread across instances, and this forces people to move. I’ve also noticed that I now see some stuff that I couldn’t anymore on Lemmy.world, so it’s better overall.
