For now I’ve been using Links to upload stuff.

Even before the performance degredation, it was recommended to use shota.nu for file uploads since it “saves us storage and will result in less upload failures because the built-in Lemmy uploader sucks” (from the Burggit tip).

As a moderator, as long as it’s not depicting a real person and doesn’t get posted too much, it’s fine. As a user, unless its purpose was to be erotic, I don’t think this is the best place for it.

If you’re only looking for animations, it ultimately comes down to how good people are at tagging stuff. I don’t know of any sites that are exclusively for long animations, but you should be able to find some on most of these sites. Can’t say which is the best with tagging, but booru.allthefallen.moe seems pretty good.
