I came across a post asking for music, and I decided why not make a big thread about music we can associate with Radqueer stuff, such as TransIDs, attraction types, relationship types, etc!

Here’s a few of my song recommendations!

  • Love the Way You Lie (Part 1 and 2) by Eminem and Rihanna - Conabuse
  • Tongues & Teeth by The Crane Wives - Conabuse
  • The Horror of Our Love by Ludo - Stalker-like, Killer in love vibes
  • All The Stars in Texas by Ludo - Taboo (Bonnie and Clyde type of relationship)
  • Partners in Crime by Set It Off - Taboo (Bonnie and Clyde type of relationship)
  • Black Dress by Kisschasy - Necrophilia
  • Her Eyes Say Yes by Hit The Lights - Stalking, Obsession (light Biasto Vibes)
  • Love Me Cheerilee by The Living Tombstone - AAM/MAP, Taboo (Teacher/Student) (not inherently toxic though)
  • Wrong Way by Sublime - Toxic AAM/MAP vibes
  • Don’t Stand So Close To Me by The Police - AAM/MAP, Taboo (Teacher/Student)

    Rock

    • Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood by The Animals – headcanon that this is about a consensual abusive relationship, I love me an abuser with excuses, “if I seem edgy, I want you to know, that I never mean to take it out on you, life has its problems, and I get my share, and that’s one thing I never mean to do, cause I love you”
    • Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde – toxic relationship, “you were a vampire, and baby, I’m the walking dead”
    • Skeleton by Set It Off – codependent relationship, objectification, feels intrasystem to us, “fix my head, stitch my soul, find out where it all went wrong, come and breath the air into my lungs, I just wanna be your skeleton”
    • I’ll Be Your Mirror by The Velvet Underground – such a cute wholesome song for those who may feel guilty/isolated/evil for who they are, selfcest goals???, “when you think the night has seen your mind, that inside you’re twisted and unkind, let me stand to show that you are blind, please put down your hands, cause I see you”
    • Sunday Morning by The Velvet Underground – tenuous pick but we had to include this (and not Venus in Furs because we don’t want to include songs that are just BDSM), good companion to “I’ll Be Your Mirror”, the lyrics “watch out, the world’s behind you” is so relatable as a system who exists in spite of so many people who discriminate against us, yet it feels irreverent in a soothing way

    Joanna Newsom

    • '81 by Joanna Newsom – the innocence and religious imagery in this song speaks to our pre-guilt self, a pre-exile-from-Eden self, a radically accepting of the self self, “we broke our hearts in the war between St. Georg and the dragon, but both, in equal part, are welcome to come along, I’m inviting everyone”
    • Good Intentions Paving Company by Joanna Newsom – complicated relationship with a loving, bittersweet ending <3, “but it can make you feel over, and old (Lord, you know it’s a shame), when I only want for you to pull over and hold me, till I can’t remember my own name”
    • Have One On Me by Joanna Newsom – toxic relationship, we headcanon this being about assisted suicide and necrophilia don’t @ us, there is a Lolita reference in here because that’s one of Joanna Newsom’s favorite books, “that night I came upstairs, half-dead, and, in your kindness, you put me straightaway in the cupboard, with a bottle of champagne, and then, later, on a train”
    • Only Skin by Joanna Newsom – this song is long and about a lot of things (primarily womanhood), I headcanon the main relationship as age gap (older woman, younger man/boy), “I have got some business out at the edge of town, candy weighing both of my pockets down, till I can hardly stay afloat from the weight of them, and knowing how the commonfolk condemn what it is I do to you to keep you warm, being a woman, being a woman”

    House and/or Electroswing

    • Lay Down by Caravan Palace – I just love this funky song about going to hell idk dude, this POV character is acting like going to hell is like getting the cold and it speaks to my irreverence, “and I can’t get sick, and I can’t get this, and oh my soul is bound for hell”
    • Freedom by DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ – this is overall our favorite song, not specifically radqueer but we had to include it, it’s about self-acceptance and self-love and finally being free and if you’re ever high and listen to this you will have a moment, it does have a bit of a childish aesthetic too, “now you are being given freedom, don’t underrate it”
    • Peeping Tom by Jamie Berry – the POV character likes being stalked and indulges their stalker, “so I slide across my hood and what do I see, sure as hell the peeping tom is looking at me, so simply, accidentally, carelessly, drop my dressing gown for him to see”
    • Jenny by Studio Killers – toxic relationship, just watch the music video if you haven’t already, “Jenny darling you’re my best friend, I’ve been doing bad things that you don’t know about, stealing your stuff now and then, nothing you’d miss but it means the world to me”

    Internet Music

    • Entropy by Awkward Marina – song about radical chaos, transID interpretation, “did I get lost along the way, lose my mind for a new identity, I quite enjoy ruining your day, and I just wanna cause a little entropy”
    • Abnormality Dancin’ Girl by Guchiry feat. flower - she becomes a weirdo butterfly, transID radqueer POV character yay, just watch the music video I can’t do it justice
    • Wonderland by Pogo – this is actually an entire EP, not much to say about it besides that it’s Alice in Wonderland plunderphonics which is a pedo mood
    • Pika Girl by S3RL – interspecies relationship, consensual imprisonment (the pokeball duh), “you’d be a pika-girl, in the poke world, yes life would be so fun”
    • It’ll Be OK by SherclopPones – it’s the consang song from Friendship is Witchcraft, “though the law forbids it, this is kismet”

    Breakcore

    • 808 MAN AFTER (Metallic Madness Zone) by Golden Boy – this spoke to me as a member of a plural system with anti apologists and enforcers, there are forces in the brain that are trying to supress me cause I’m too radical, I’m “the cyborg’s” target, “it’s not your fault, neither of us knew this was going to happen”

    Unsorted

    • Jesus Dont Like That I’m Gay but Satans Cool With It by Lil Boodang – just look at the title, “open up your bible turn to page six-hundred-sixty-six, if you got a fucking problem I’ll call up the devil, bitch”
    • Risingson by Massive Attack – heacanon the POV character as a crazy genderfluid sadist don’t @ us, love the drug imagery, “toy-like people make me boy-like”
    • Little Dark Age by MGMT – I interpret this song as being about the denial and later acceptance of the dark side of the self, the titular dark age changes from meaning a period of close-mindedness (being “in the dark”) to a period of acceptance (accepting you are “of the dark”), “forgiving who you are, for what you stand to gain, just know that if you hide, it doesn’t go away”
    • Secret by The Pierces – some radqueers feel they have to live in secret, others are open despite the risk, one thing we’ve noticed is that a lot of us wanna tell despite our secrecy and sometimes do on impulse (if you’ve watched the first episode of The Paraphile Potcast, you’ll remember that two of the podcasters met when one of them impromptu said something like “I love children” which is relatable to us XD), “why when we do our darkest deeds do we tell”
    • I’m so crazy for youuu </3 by Rebzyyx – toxic relationship, can be interpreted as more meta (antis are obsessed with us radqueers but we’re just vibing being crazy), “you’re so upset with me but I’m so obsessed with you, I’m fucking crazy, I don’t wanna damage you”
